Dr. Thomas Budd
Thomas is a Lecturer in Airport Planning and Management in the Centre for Air Transport
Management at Cranfield University, UK, and Course Director for the MSc in Airport
Planning and Management. He is also the Academic Lead for the Passenger Experience
Laboratory, a new research and innovation unit located within Cranfield’s Digital Aviation
Research Technology Centre (DARTeC). His research and teaching examine how disruptive
technologies can be leveraged to create more seamless, connected and sustainable air
passenger journeys. He has published his research in a range of leading academic peer-
review journals, presented at numerous international conferences, and sits as an advisor on
Heathrow Airport’s new Centre of Excellence for Sustainability Think Tank. Before joining
Cranfield University in 2014, he completed is PhD research at Loughborough University, and
a postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Aberdeen.
